The Knoxville Police Department is asking for the public's help in tracking down some air conditioner thieves.

Since July 1, KPD has received forty reports of stolen air conditioner units. The suspects are targeting houses that are vacant, some of which are for sale or rent.  A few businesses have also been targeted.

The majority of these thefts have occurred in a corridor that borders Pleasant Ridge Road on the west, Western Avenue on the south, Whittle Springs Road on the East, and north along Callahan Road.

Investigators have identified three vehicles that may be involved in the thefts:

August 12
Glen Oaks Drive area
11:00 p.m.
White Van with red lettering and a ladder rack and ladder on top of the vehicle.

August 31
Montina Road area
4:30 p.m.
Late model gray Dodge Caravan with two white males that backed into a driveway and removed the AC unit.

September 8
Villa Road area
7:00 p.m.
A white make with a beard in his late 30's to early 40's in a silver minivan.

If anyone witnesses suspicious activity near heating and air units at residences that are either for sale or for rent, they are asked to call 911 immediately to report the activity.
