An East Tennessee college campus looks a little more welcoming, thanks to a group of volunteers.

The Home Depot in North Knoxville spent about six weeks organizing a volunteer effort to revitalize parts of the Knoxville College campus.

The store donated truckloads of plants, mulch, lighting, paint and other supplies, then put together a group of about 80 volunteers to do the work on Thursday.

Organizers say it's great to work together to make a difference in the community.

"It's an awesome feeling and it's been so much fun working with all the volunteers today, and for us to mingle and mix with Knoxville College volunteers and to make a bond with our community," said Kim Day, Specialty Assistant Manager, Home Depot.

Knoxville College hopes the flowers will be in full bloom for homecoming in two weeks.
