For the second time in two weeks, a small fire was reported at a property that was the scene of a much larger fire nearly five years ago.
Firefighters responded to a mattress fire at the McClung warehouse on Jackson Avenue and Broadway on Monday night.
They were able to put it out quickly. However, they said they also responded to a barrel fire there last week.
They had to break into the building both times to put them out. They suspect homeless people of starting them and said the building is dangerous for firefighters.
In February of 2007, three Knoxville firefighters were seriously hurt when a wall of one of the warehouses collapse on them during a large blaze.
That fire took hours to put out and the cause was never officially determined. The remaining warehouses have stood empty ever since.
