Seiver County will soon have two snow attractions.
Currently, Ober Gatlinburg opens their slopes each Winter when weather permits.
Wilderness Mountain, located off Highway 321 in Wears Valley, said they will offer snow tubing next Winter.
Tuesday night, the Sevier County Planning Commission gave the new resort-style development approval to add a zip line and snow tubing attractions.
Wilderness Mountain is being developed by The Pete Maples Family of Sevierville.
Currently, the "Mountain Brothers General Store" sits at the base. Up the hill, visitors can relax at "Trillium Springs Resort".
"We do corporate events, weddings and there are cabin rentals that go with those," said Kevin Maples, spokesperson for Wilderness Mountain.
"The Lodge At The Park" sits above the resort. The lodge backs the national park and rustic cabins are being built for mountain bikers, hikers and the like.
"It's something similar to the Mount LeConte experience. We do have a hiking trail that goes all the way to the top right now," Maples explained.
The Joe Ogle Family is partnering with the Maples' to build the zip lines and snow tubing facility.
"We actually did some testing up here last Winter," said Maples. "It was a very, very cold Winter. We held snow up here longer than anybody in the area."
According to Wilderness Mountain, the chair lift should open by late-Spring, the zip line will open around that time or early-Summer and snow tubing will follow next Winter.
