Previous story

A Blount County middle school was placed on lockdown Wednesday evening after a man made threatening phone calls from inside the school.

According to Marian O'Briant with the Blount County Sheriff's Office, Carpenters Middle School in Maryville was locked down as a precaution, after a man who came into the school building started threatening his ex-wife over the phone.  His ex-wife works at the school, but was not there when the man arrived.

The man left the building, and deputies were called in to search for him.  He has not been located.

The lockdown was lifted a little before 4:00 pm, and the kids are now being released to go home.
