Hundreds of people in Knoxville got a little help in stocking their pantries.

The Overcoming Believers Church handed out free boxes of food Wednesday afternoon at the Sam E. Hill Family Community Center.

The church has hosted events in the past to give out gas gift cards, food and toys.

Church members say their mission is to serve the community, and they see the giveaways as a practical way to meet the needs of others.

"We've given food away several times, but never at this magnitude," said Pastor Daryl Arnold. "We just really wanted to focus all of our efforts on giving food away this time because it's just a very difficult year for most people financially and we want to be able to give them a little bit of a break when it comes to something to eat for this Easter."

About 100 volunteers helped with the food distribution.
