Maryville-based Ruby Tuesday plans to close more than 30 restaurants this year.
The chain talked about the planned closures during its latest report to investors.
Ruby Tuesday hasn't said exactly which locations will close, but the company says they're under-performing restaurants.
Ruby Tuesday says it will now rely on improving marketing strategy and the acquisition of the Lime Fresh Mexican Grill chain to help improve the business.
The restaurant chain also closed several dozen locations back in 2009 after reporting more than $37 million in losses.
Two East Tennessee restaurants were closed at that time.
