Tuesday, a fallen East Tennessee police officer is being remembered in our nation's capitol.
Wartburg Captain Ralph Braden died in April 2011, from injuries he received while answering a call about a domestic problem. He got into a fight with a suspect, and several days later, passed away from a blood clot that formed after his injuries.
Captain Braden is among dozens of American officers to be memorialized Tuesday during the annual National Peace Officers' Memorial Service in Washington.
The day is held every year on May 15 in honor of federal, state and local officers killed or disabled in the line of duty.
Several East Tennessee law enforcement agencies are holding their own observances this week.
