An autopsy is scheduled for Monday after a body was discovered in a burned motel lobby in Jefferson County this weekend.
Crews responded to the Crown Inn on Phillips Road around 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Emergency responders say the fire started in the lobby and burned part of the front office.
It took emergency responders 30 minutes to extinguish the flames. That's when they discovered the body.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and White Pine Police were all at the scene Saturday evening.
District Attorney General Jimmy Dunn requested the TBI investigation, according to Special Agent in Charge Jason Locke.
Locke tells 10News officials are not yet releasing the victim's name, and the cause of death is unknown.
Guests were staying in the motel at the time of the fire, but were not expected to stay there Saturday night.
The Red Cross is offering assistance.
