Knoxville's annual fireworks display will go on as planned Wednesday night under the watchful eye of Knoxville firefighters.
Monday, crews from Pyro Shows were hard at work preparing the more than 1,000 shells that are set to entertain thousands of people downtown.
The Festival on the Fourth fireworks will be shot off from the former Baptist Hospital.
With the heat, it's been hard work getting ready, but Pyro Shows says they are actually ahead of schedule.
"Everything is going good. Actually we feel like we are ahead this year, which is a good thing. [There's been] A lot of speculation about some of the shows being cancelled because of the weather, the dry weather, but I really think that's not going to be the case," said Randy Heatherly.
The fireworks are set to begin around 9:30 Wednesday night.
If you can't make it downtown to see them in person, you can watch the show live on Channel 10. Our coverage of the Festival on the Fourth begins at 8 with Russell and Beth and the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra's annual patriotic celebration.
At 10 you can see NBC's Macy Fourth of July Spectacular featuring Kenny Chesney, followed by the Nightbeat.
