LONDON - Former Tennessee star DeeDee Trotter seems to have found her stride at just the right time.

Trotter, 29, ran the second-fastest time today to qualify for the Olympic finals in the women's 400 meters at the Olympic Stadium.

At the 2004 Olympics, Trotter made the 400 final before finishing fifth but left Athens with a gold medal as part of the 4x400-meter relay team.

In 2008, though, a knee injury slowed Trotter, who missed the 400 finals.

"I felt great," Trotter said after clocking a semifinal time of 49.87 seconds just sixth hundredths of a second Antonina Krivoshapka.

"Fastest time I've had in years."

The finals are Saturday.
