A blind rescue horse recovering from injuries she suffered after falling in a sinkhole is getting a little help from an 8-year-old girl.
Last week, Star fell 25 feet. It took a group effort to save her. Eight firefighters and four vets pulled her to safety.
She's been recovering at Countryside Vet Service in Louisville since the fall, and has built up a hefty hospital bill.
Several people around East Tennessee have stepped up to help out, including Callie Cunningham, who donated some of her birthday money to the owners.
She met Star on Tuesday and said she just wanted to help the horse out.
"I just felt really sorry for the horse, to have to go through something like that. It makes me feel better that Star is going to get well soon," she said.
So far, Tennesseans have helped raise more than $1,000 for the vet bill.
Star remains at Countryside. Her doctor says she's making good progress and could be home later this week.
