With a new look and a new logo, education officials hope the new brand for the East Tennessee STEM hub will expand their regional efforts.
Monday morning, education officials unveiled the new brand named STEMspark. That replaces the former name of the STEM hub, Knoxville Area Resources for STEM Teaching.
Officials say the branding will better help the L&N STEM Academy to reach more people and get their emphasis on math and science across to students.
"We have this fabulous platform or laboratory school right here in Knox County, and while the students in this schools are drawn from Knox County, beginning next fall, 20 percent of the entering freshman class will be students from across the 13 county region, so this is truly a regional high school with region-wide impact and influence," said Marilyn Roddy, the STEM hub director.
Officials say the new look will help attract more students and bring them in the STEM system.
