Investigators with the Knox County Sheriff's Department are trying to track down the person who broke into a Rural/Metro Fire station and stole several items Wednesday morning.
An employee with Rural/Metro was sleeping when he heard a noise inside the station. He thought it was just another fire fighter who had gotten up.
When he got up to smoke he found that his laptop computer, along with his wallet and several other personal items were missing. Outside the station he found that someone had ransacked his personal vehicle.
Officers believe the suspect was able to work the deadbolt loose on a locked door to gain entry into the station.
According to the incident report, the firefighters said they saw a white male about 5'10" tall, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans running from the scene.
