A TDOT maintenance worker is in serious condition after being struck by a car Wednesday afternoon.

TDOT spokesperson Mark Nagi says Josh Chesney, 34, of Knoxville, was working on US 11E in Jefferson County when the accident happened.  We're still waiting to get details on what caused the accident from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Chesney suffered a broken arm, a broken leg, a cracked pelvis and a fractured skull.  He was flown to UT Medical Center by Lifestar helicopter for treatment.  Nagi says he had surgery on his broken arm last night.
