According to Knox County dispatchers, Westcott Blvd. has been reopened following a sulfur dioxide leak at American Glass Company.
An early morning chemical leak has closed a west Knox County road.
Just before 2:00 this morning Rural Metro Haz-Mat crews were called to the American Glass Company on Westcott Boulevard for a sulfur dioxide leak.
The building was evacuated and the road closed while crews work to clean up the scene.
Emergency crews on the scene say that noone was injured and that an ambulance was brought in just as a precaution.
Sulfur dioxide is non-flammable but can irritate the eyes and lungs
No word on how long Westcott Boulevard will be closed.
