A large fight ended in gunfire, a vehicle striking pedestrians, and several people transported to the hospital.

It all happened around 2:30 a.m. Saturday at the Austin Homes complex on West New Street, according to a release from the Knoxville Police Department.

Officers responding to the scene determined that at least two people had been struck by a vehicle.

Theron Johnson, 38, of Knoxville, and Jeannie Johnson, 39, of Knoxville, were transported to UT Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Theron Johnson is listed in stable condition. Jeannie Johnson has since been released.

The vehicle had left the scene by the time officers arrived, but they later found it in the Green Hills complex. The driver, 25-year-old Alice Barrett, of Knoxville, was questioned. Meanwhile, a female passenger was transported to the hospital.

Police say the investigation is ongoing but believe it started with a large fight in the street that led to a vehicle striking pedestrians as gunshots were being fired at the vehicle.
