Volunteers spent most of their Saturday helping Knoxville stay clean and beautiful by renovating the chapel at Knoxville College's campus.

Organizers said that chapel was in much need of a paint job. Volunteers like Gene Thomas, James Hudson and others donated their time by adding some new coats of paint to make the chapel look new again.

"It's the first building you see on the campus of Knoxville College," said Gene Thomas. "It's located here in the Mechanicsville community, and we thought it would be great to give it an extreme makeover."

Next weekend is Knoxville College's homecoming. Thomas and James Hudson said the renovation project came just in time for that weekend.
