A couple of fires kept Knoxville fire fighters busy in the early morning hours Friday.

No one was injured in either fire.

In the first blaze, two adult residents escaped a fire on the main floor of their tri-level home on the 7100 block of Cheshire Drive.  after their smoke alarm sounded just before 12:30 a.m.

It took around 20 minutes for fire fighters to get the fire under control.

Arson investigators are looking into the cause.

Friends and family of the residents have offered them aid.

Then at 2:00 a.m., eleven third shift employees of a recycling company evacuated when a piece of machinery used to dry plastic caught fire.

None of the United DMS employees or responding Knoxville Fire Department fire fighters were injured.

However, production has stopped until the damage is assessed at the business on the intersection of Texas Avenue and Western Avenue.
