An ATV head-on collision sent three boys to the hospital on Sunday afternoon.

A 17-year-old boy and a 6-year-old boy were riding together in an ATV, along with a 12-year-old boy riding another ATV, in a field off Sevierville Pike. The two ATVs were driving in opposite directions, when they both hit a gap, and struck head-on.

After the wreck occurred, another boy driving a go-cart called out for help. A nurse, who lives nearby, heard the cries, ran out to the field to see what happened. She took care of the boys until emergency workers arrived on scene. Deputies responded to the accident at approximately 3:39 in the afternoon, and determined that none appeared to have life-threatening injuries.

According to a Knox County Sheriff's Office release, the 17-year-old suffered the worst injuries, and Lifestar transported him to UT Medical Center. Rural Metro transported the other two boys to UT Medical Center by ambulance.

The 17-year-old's family owns the field where the wreck occurred. He was the only one wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The other two boys involved in the accident are from Seymour.
