The Knox County Sheriff's Office is asking for help identifying a suspect involved in an attempted child abduction.
Officials say a man attempted to take a 2-year-old girl from Sterchi Hills Park in North Knox County just before 12:30 on Thursday afternoon.
The mother of the child says the man kept following her and her two children and trying to talk to the toddler. She says the man tried to pick the girl up at one point, but she was able to reach her first. The suspect then ran toward the Sterchi Hills subdivision.
The suspect is described as a white male, 45-55 years old, with brown eyes and grey, balding hair. He is 5'9"-6'0" and 200 pounds with a medium build and pockmark scars. He has a full, grey, closely shaven beard. He was wearing a blue sweat suit with yellow striped tennis shoes at the time of the attempted abduction.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at (865) 215-2243.
