An autopsy for the 39-year-old found dead in a car is expected to be completed Monday or Tuesday.

The Clinton Police Department Chief, Rick Scarbrough, said they may ask for on-board video from Norfolk Southern.

Chris Vann's mother told police she last her son at home around 12:30 Saturday morning.

It could take several days for details on exactly what happened.

"This is a unique situation and we are not sure how long the gentleman had been there," said Chief Rick Scarbrough. "There are still a lot of unanswered questions, some that may never get answered."

One man is dead after a train struck his vehicle in Clinton early Saturday morning around 3:30 am.

According to a press release, Clinton police officers found the Norfolk Southern train and the vehicle, a 1992 Mitsubishi, approximately half a mile north of the intersection of Carden Farm and Clinch Avenue.

The driver, 39-year-old Chris Vann of Clinton, had been driving on Carden Road when police say his vehicle left the roadway and rolled down an embankment.  The car came to rest on the tracks north of the train crossing.

Police say it remains unclear how long Vann's vehicle was on the tracks before being struck or if he was actually killed during the initial accident or by the impact of the train.

"This isn't a typical car versus train collision, therefore we are still investigating and questions left to be answered. Norfolk Southern has been very cooperative with our investigation and their support staff responded to the scene quickly," said Chief Rick Scarbrough in the release.
