Approval for a plan to create a human cadaver study site in Jefferson County is on hold for now.
Carson-Newman College wants to add the site as part of its new forensics program. It would be located on a tract of land in New Market.
Tuesday evening, the Jefferson County Board of Zoning Appeals voted unanimously to postpone a decision on the proposal until next month's meeting. The board members want to have more information about what kind of district the activity would need to be zoned in before making a decision.
Some homeowners have expressed concerns about the plans.
The facility would receive one body a month.
Carson-Newman says they've received clearance from TDEC, Homeland Security, and the EPA.
