Police search for suspect in North Knoxville burglary

Knoxville Police are searching for a suspect involved in a burglary and assault in North Knoxville shortly before 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Officers said a 63-year-old man was attacked by a person who was breaking into his home on Whittle Springs Road.

Police said the victim arrived home and interrupted the burglary. The suspect then attacked the victim and locked him in a closet. He then barricaded the door so the man could not get out. Next the suspect fled the scene.

The victim was found a few minutes later by his daughter. The victim was beaten around the head and body, but refused medical treatment.

Police are looking for a 45 - 50-year old man. The 5'7" suspect weighs around 200 pounds and has a beard. He was last seen wearing a camouflage army field jacket.
