To help kids stay safe while exercising, Kohl's is donating more than $100,000 to Children's Hospital's Bike Helmet Safety Program.

At its West Knoxville location, the department store presented a check to provide children with free bicycle helmets. The money will also help show parents how to properly fit a bicycle helmet and give them safety information.

"Once you damage your brain, that's something that's not so easily repaired, and a lot of times not repairable at all. It can be a life-changing injury. So we want to make sure we protect that brain and make sure that they're able to have whole complete happy, healthy lives," said Susan Cook.

Kohl's has donated more than $1 million to Children's Hospital's Bike Helmet Safety Program over the past 12 years.
