The Salvation Army got some extra star power Saturday evening to help bring in donations during their seasonal 'red kettle' campaign.
Two members of the 501st Legion, a local Star Wars fan group, dressed up in some very authentic costumes to get out there and encourage people to donate.
They rang the iconic red bells at Kroger on Middlebrook Pike for three hours Saturday evening, and shoppers readily stepped up to take a picture and make a donation.
The Knoxville area Salvation Army is hoping to make this a record setting kettle campaign season.
Community Relations Director Rob Link says last year they raised a total of $585,000.
This year they're hoping to top that with $600,000 in donations.
The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign ends Christmas Eve.
Check out the video to fully appreciate the costumes-- we should mention Damon Reed handmade his very own Storm Trooper outfit.
