One local group of first responders is showing their support for their fallen brothers in Webster, New York.
Knoxville Fire Department crews are signing cards expressing their sadness and solidarity with the volunteer firefighters shot responding to a fire. It happened in upstate New York earlier this week. Four were shot, two fatally.
Firefighters in Knoxville say they're demonstrating their support and showing the common bond shared by all firefighters.
"We always are sympathetic towards anything that does happen because we know what the job entails. We know what each of us go through when we are responding to a call," said Captain Scott Warwick.
The two surviving firefighters from Monday's shooting say they're thankful for the outpouring of support. Joseph Hofstetter and Theodore Scardino said in a statement that they are "humbled and overwhelmed."
