U.S. Representative Scott Desjarlais, The Tennessean
Representative Scott DesJarlais is talking about his political and personal challenges. He took office Thursday after being re-elected in November.
A divorce transcript released after the election showed DesJarlais had affairs with patients. He also apparently pressured a pregnant mistress to have an abortion.
He has no plans to resign, and says he'll run for a third term in 2014. Before that can happen, many feel he needs to re-earn the trust of his constituents.
"There's a lot of details that I'm sure the people will continue to look at and will continue to discuss, so we'll have a lot of opportunity to revisit this," he said.
DesJarlais believes he still has the support from constituents in his district. He's already facing challengers for the 2014 campaign, and more could be lining up to take him on.
