Kiki Ash loves him tender, loves him sweet and never will let him go. Him...being Elvis Presley.
For years, Ash has held a birthday party for the King of Rock and Roll at the Cerebral Palsy Center in Knoxville. Ash is a client there.
"He was my friend," Ash said Tuesday while celebrating Elvis' 78th birthday. "He meant a lot to me. I don't know why. I just love him very much. If he was here. He would know."
Staff members at CPC said Ash fills her home with Elvis memorabilia and has also visited Presley's former home at Graceland in Memphis.
"When you visit her bedroom there's a big bust of Elvis. She has got Elvis pictures, Elvis DVD's and Elvis CD's," said Tom Wilkinson with the Cerebral Palsy center.
"She just had a ball. She got to go to Graceland, eat in the restaurant, stay in the hotel, take a tour of the mansion and she just had a wonderful time," said Bob Sexton with the Cerebral Palsy Center.
Kiki Ash's favorite Elvis song is Blue Hawaii.
In return, Ash sings a song to the King every January 8. She asks her CPC family to join her in singing happy birthday to Elvis before cutting a birthday cake with the King's name on it.
"I wish you were here. Because, I miss you very much," the Knoxvillian said at Tuesday's party.
