Weather canceling several community events

The following is a list of community events and meetings that we've been informed are canceled because of weather.   You can also check out our closings page for more.

The BB&T branches in the following counties will open at 10:00 AM Friday January the 18th:

  • Knox County
  • Sevier County
  • Blount County
  • Dandridge
  • Jefferson City
  • Green County
  • Tri-cities 

All other surrounding counties will be open at normal time.

Knoxville Comprehensive Breast Center - 1 hour delay

Middlesboro Kentucky- Noah's Ark at 8:30 a.m.

Prodigal Primary Care 10:00 a.m. All offices open at 10:00 a.m.Y-12

Federal Credit Union is opening at 10:00 a.m.

Centro Hispano Knoxville will not hold their G.E.D & English classes on Thursday, Friday & Monday Evenings.

All Knox County Health Department locations are now closed.

City Court has cancelled night court for this evening.

Blount Co Public Library closed at 3 PM today

All Knox County Public Library branches and Knox County Senior Centers will close at 3 p.m. today.

Blount County 4-H Public Speaking Contest is POSTPONED until next Thursday January 24th. Still at Broadway United Methodist, check in at 5:30 contest begins at 6pm. Please call the Extension Office if you need further assistance (865) 982-6430

Wright's Cafeteria will be closed Thursday evening per David Wright.

University of Tennessee Professional and Personal Classes and all Information Sessions scheduled for tonight per Pam Quick, 974-3181, Asst for the Exec Director of Non-Credit Pgm.

Passgo Academy driving school, classes in Kingston are cancelled for tonight 

The Grainger County Republican Women meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. is rescheduled for Thursday, Jan. 24. (Jennifer Little, 767-2008)

UT Extension Service Profit & Production Meeting cancelled for tonight

Knoxville City Council workshop scheduled for 5:30 is canceled. Public property naming committee scheduled for 5 pm is canceled

Blount County Commission meeting set for 7 pm is canceled.

Bearden HS vs. Oak Hill Academy basketball game has been canceled.

The Knox County Republican Party Precinct Reorganization meeting scheduled for tonight, January 17th at 7:00 P.M. have been canceled

Victory Baptist Church is canceling stepping into Freedom Classes tonight

McGhee Tyson has initiated a winter weather operations plan. The airport suggests travelers monitor their flights on the website
TDOT's public meeting regarding the State Route 81 Roundabout project has been canceled. The meeting was scheduled to take place at the Jonesborough Visitor's Center at 5 p.m. tonight.  This public meeting will be rescheduled at a later date.

Sevier Co. Govt will open 2 hours late on Friday morning.

Jefferson City Municipal Court  - no evening court.

Paul Thorn concert canceled at the Clayton Center.

West Town Mall closed at 6 p.m.

The Morristown City Center (100 West 1st North Street) will be opening at 10:00 a.m. on Friday January 18th.

New Beginnings kick-off for 8 a.m. Friday - canceled

ARC Automotive 3rd shift has been canceled. First shift has been delayed until 11 o'clock.

Children's Hospital GI for Kids practice will open at 10 a.m.

Boys and Girls Clubs of the Smoky Mountains will be closed Friday.

Tennessee Baseball Leadoff Banquet Thursday night has been canceled.

Mobile meals is on a 2 hour delay Friday.  They will start delivering at 11:30 and wrap up around 1:30.  They are looking for people with 4x4's to help with the deliveries.  People to drive 4x4's and want to help can call 524-2786.

Knox County Government executive branch offices under the purview of Mayor Burchett, including libraries, senior centers, health department and solid waste convenience centers, will open at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18. After that time, employees are encouraged to report to work only if they can do so safely. Employees who cannot report to work should use appropriate leave. Before getting out on the roads, any member of the public needing to conduct business with Knox County should call 215-2000 to be sure individual offices are open.
