Update: 1 lane eastbound has been reopened.

Previous story

A truck caught fire on I-40E in Roane County Thursday morning, shutting down traffic for several hours.

According to TDOT, the wreck was reported just after 10:00 am at milemarker 354, 1.7 miles east of the Kingston exit.  The eastbound lanes were completely shut down.  Eastbound traffic was being diverted to alternate routes: exit 352 to SR 58 south to SR 326 north back to I-40 at exit 356 (Gallaher Rd.)

Around 12:30 pm, our 10News crew on the scene said some traffic was being allowed past the accident.

The westbound lanes remained open, but traffic was slow because people were watching the incident in the eastbound lanes.
