Red was the color of choice for employees at Knoxville-based Jewelry TV on Friday.
February 1st marked the start of "Heart Month," which raises awareness about heat disease. To help in this effort, Jewelry TV kicked off its "Go Red for Women" campaign. The cable channel is giving its customers an opportunity to make a donation to the American Heath Association throughout February.
Heart disease is the number one killer of women. To help spread awareness about the disease and kick off the campaign properly, women and men at the company sported all shades of red Friday.
Jewelry TV vice president Jill Johnson hopes this campaign reaches its customers' hearts.
"Our customer base is 90 percent women. We have a large percent of our organization that is employed by women, so it's near and dear to our heart," said Johnson. "We want to reach our customers and tell them this important message."
Jewelry TV has also put together a special "Love Your Heart" collection to celebrate this month.
