Man who died in collision with train identified

A man who died Thursday afternoon during a collision with a train has been identified as 41-year-old Brock E. Humpherys.

A Greene County man is dead after a train and car collided Thursday afternoon.

The accident happened around 1 p.m. on West Irish Street in Greeneville. According to troopers, the driver tried to cross the train tracks when the train hit the car in the front left tire.

The police investigation shows the lights at the crossing appeared to be flashing.

Two people were in the car. Neither were wearing a seatbelt, and both were ejected.

A 41-year-old Greeneville man died in the wreck.

Emergency crews airlifted a 48-year-old man from Mosheim to Johnson City Medical Center.
