The Knox County Sheriff's Office honored one of its own Tuesday for helping to solve three crimes in the span of three months.

Officer Rex Armstrong was named Officer of the Year and recognized at the Elk's Lodge.

A year ago he located a suspect wanted for robbery, then caught another accused in a burglary. Just a few weeks after that, Armstrong found another burglary suspect who confessed to him.

Armstrong received a plaque and a free dinner for his work.

"It's a great feeling to know that I've actually done something, and I think it helps the younger kids coming up say 'I want to do that,'" he said.

Also Tuesday, KCSO named Michael Pitts the Officer of the Month for January and Ellan Nauss the Detective of the Month.
