Compassion Ministries partnered with Second Harvest Saturday to help hundreds of people in Claiborne County get much needed food.

The outreach of the Cornerstone Church of God and the non-profit held a mobile food pantry at Clairfield Elementary School on Saturday.

Volunteers passed out bread, canned goods, potatoes, drinks and hygiene items to more than 300 people. This group has previously sponsored mobile food pantries in Knox and Campbell counties.

Cornerstone Church of God Pastor Steve McCullar said their mission is to reach out to counties that really need their help.

"It's really an outreach of the church and an opportunity we take with Second Harvest to try to assist with counties that have more of a need for supplemental food like Claiborne County," said McCullar.

Pastor McCullar said he hopes to transport the mobile food pantry to Monroe and Jefferson Counties next.
