Hundreds of college students spent 14 straight hours on the dance floor this weekend to raise money for East Tennessee Children's Hospital.

Hundreds of UT students began a dance marathon at 9:00 Friday night and finished around 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

Participants helped raise money for the Hematology and Oncology Clinic at Children's Hospital.

Several kids from Children's Hospital played games and danced with the college students. They also got to take a hero's walk.

Event organizer Zac Giffin said this was a great opportunity for UT students to reach out to the community.

"I think the thing that's so great about UT dance marathon is it gives UT students the chance to give back to a local cause, considering Children's Hospital is right in UT's backyard," said Griffin. "It's pretty unique in that respect, because we can see the impact we're making in the local community and on these kids' lives."

Several other colleges around the country have held similar marathons. Penn State raised more than $12 million last weekend.
