An expo in Downtown Knoxville Thursday was all about women and their health. Tennova Healthcare kicked off its new program Health Extra for Women at the Foundry.
The program is a personal health resource for women, focusing on health trends, medical information, nutrition and different community activities.
Organizers say women are often taking care of their kids, working, and maintaining the home, so they put themselves last. This initiative is about changing that.
"So we're starting this initiative to try to get women, it's kinda like the mask on the airplane-- if you don't take care of yourself first, you can't take care of your family. So this initiative is all about putting women's health first," said Deborah McMillan.
Thursday's event included complimentary health screens, some pampering and gourmet treats. Women also met with Tennova physicians.
