People got their fill sampling soups to raise money to help animals Sunday.

The 3rd annual Souper Sunday featured 20 different soups. Proceeds from this event will go towards five Blount County animal welfare groups. The money will help these groups pay a variety of costs, including food and veterinary bills.

Ann Maurino, with 4 Chics and a Cat, said proceeds from this fundraiser go a long way.

"It helps pay for a lot of things that they just otherwise couldn't pay for. What 4 Chics is all about is helping groups because a lot of times groups fall apart because they don't have enough funding behind them, so we want to help them do that," said Maurino.

At the fundraiser, chefs competed for the "Golden Ladle" and a year's worth of bragging rights. People who attended got to pick who's soup took home the prize.
