January's unemployment rate is the lowest January rate since 2008, and has declined from 8.2 percent in January 2012.
The number of employed people in the state is more than 2.8 million, which is the highest number since December 2007.
The Tennessee economy gained 7,600 non-farm jobs from December to January, and 56,200 jobs from January 2012 to January 2013.
