Authorities arrested a Loudon woman on second-degree murder charges from a 2011 case involving prescription medication.
Alcoa Police said detectives arrested Kellie Geneba Abert, 43, after a Blount County grand jury returned a sealed indictment against her on Monday.
Officers found 39-year-old William R. Lawson of Greenback, Abert's brother, dead in a room at the Hampton Inn on International Avenue in Alcoa on August 4th, 2011. Investigators said at that point, the cause of death was suspicious.
Since then, officials said have determined Lawson's death was the result of illegal distribution of prescription drugs.
Abert was booked at the Blount County Jail on a $100,00 bond pending a court hearing.
