One person was injured and some apartment units were damaged after a fire broke out in an apartment building Thursday evening.

The Knoxville Fire Department says they responded to a fire alarm at the Westview Tower Apartments on Gleason Drive at around 6:20.

When they arrived, they discovered a hallway on the 11th floor was filled with smoke, and the sprinkler system had been activated. Fire crews say the water from the sprinkler had leaked into several apartments below.

One person was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries related to smoke inhalation.

The cause of fire is currently being investigated.
