Around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday police officers were called out for a stabbing in the Fort Sanders neighborhood near downtown Knoxville.

The victim, 53 year old, Earl Smith Jr., said he got into an argument with another homeless man near the intersection of Bridge Avenue and 13th street.

Smith said that the other person pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed him on the arm.

Police say the Smith refused to cooperate say what the argument was about and refused to prosecute.  He was taken to UT Medical Center for treatment for a small puncture wound.
