Kara Stacy Inman asks, "Somebody on my Facebook mentioned an old wives' tale of thunder in March means snow within 10 days. What do you think, or have you heard this before?"
Great question Kara! I have heard of that old wives' tale, and it seems to be accurate a lot of the time during the winter months.
Ironically, it actually happened this month. On March 5th, we had a very wet and dreary day, with most of East Tennessee seeing rain and thunderstorms. That day we weren't below freezing, but just hours later, it was a different story.
The next day, the Smokies received several inches of snow. Other parts of the area, including Cocke County, got about two inches. Knoxville even had some flurries that day.
