The driver of the car involved in the Monday morning accident has died of his injuries. Alcoa Police identified him as Efrain G. Cruz, 26, of Alcoa.
All lanes of Alcoa Highway are back open after a two-vehicle crash Monday morning.
The accident was reported around 9:00 am in front of the Green Acres Flea Market. Both lanes of Alcoa Highway were shut down after it happened.
Alcoa Police say a man driving a Nissan Maxima was attempted to turn south onto Alcoa Hwy. from Starlite Drive. He pulled into the path of a Ford Explorer traveling north on Alcoa Hwy, and the two cars collided.
The driver of the Maxima was transported to UT Medical Center in critical condition. The woman driving the SUV was also taken to UT, but with non life-threatening injuries.
