The number of deaths on Tennessee roads this year is much lower compared to last year.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports 178 lives have been lost since January 1st. That's a 23 percent decrease in roadway fatalities.
Last year, state officials showed the number of traffic deaths on interstate signs every day starting in April. Those year, those numbers are displayed on Fridays.
Officials credit increased DUI arrests and seatbelt enforcements for the fewer deaths.
