An Alcoa motel closed in a nuisance raid several weeks ago is back open.
Police say they frequently responded to emergency calls at the Days Inn and Budget Inn motels on Alcoa Highway, ranging from drug use to theft and prostitution.
Authorities and the motel owners reached a settlement to allow the Days Inn's main office and one of its buildings to reopen, but it must follow strict guidelines.
A security guard has to be on site on weekends, and the motel had to install security cameras that can be accessed live online by the police department at any time.
"So far it has stayed pretty calm since it was closed down. And the owners have been very cooperative, trying to rectify the situation," said Alcoa Police Detective Jeff Parsons.
The Budget Inn also shut down in the nuisance raid...It remains closed.
