Police identify apartment shooting victim

Update 11:28 a.m.

Authorities identified the victim of a shooting at the Arbor Place apartments near downtown Knoxville on Saturday shortly before 3:00 p.m.

Police confirmed that Jeremy Edwards, 17, of Knoxville suffered several gunshot wounds in his lower legs. Emergency crews drove Edwards to UT Medical Center for treatment.

Investigators continue to follow several leads and don't have a suspect at this time. According to a KPD press release, witnesses said the suspect is also a minor and is about 5'9" and weighs 160 pounds. At the time of the incident, the suspect was dressed in all black clothing.

Authorities said a semi-automatic handgun fell out of a pocket of the victim's friend while they were there. Officers arrested the 16-year-old and charged him with possession of a weapon. Police took the teenager to a juvenile detention facility.

(March 30, 2013) Knoxville police are searching for a suspect accused of shooting a minor in the legs at Arbor Place apartments on S. Hall of Fame Drive near downtown Knoxville on Saturday afternoon.

Officers responded to the shooting shortly before 3:00 p.m. and found a teenager with several gunshot wounds in his lower legs. Emergency crews transported the victim to UT Medical Center for treatment.

According to a KPD press release, witnesses said the suspect is also a minor and is about 5'9" and weighs 160 pounds. At the time of the incident, the suspect was dressed in all black clothing.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and are not releasing additional details at this time.
