Great Smoky Mountain National Park rangers rescued 10 hikers from three different groups that got stuck near Clingmans Dome Road due to snow on Sunday afternoon.
A man called dispatch complaining of chest pains from the Mount Collins Shelter. Rangers hiked up to bring the man to safety, and on there way down they found two other groups of hikers needing help getting off the Appalachian Trial.
Molly Schroer, spokeswoman for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, said the hikers were unprepared to hike in the snow. Officials said the area has about three inches of snowfall.
Officials sent a snow plow to help clear the road, and an ambulance for any medical needs. Schroer said all the hikers refused transportation to the hospital.
