Sevierville city leaders say they're willing to put financial support behind a major retail project, if it gets some state money as well.
The Board of Aldermen voted Monday night to apply for two different $2 million dollar grants from the state to help pay for road improvements near the Dumplin Creek development.
The money would be used to connect Highway 66 with the development.
If the grants are approved, the city would match the funds, but the city wants a guarantee the development will move forward.
Dumplin Creek's developers are also seeking money to build a new interstate exit that would lead into the planned shopping area.
