The number of Knoxville residents who are homeless for the first time decreased by 14 percent last year, according to a new study by UT.

Agencies serving the homeless, however, have seen a four percent increase in the number of people they serve.

The study found more than 7,700 individuals and families were homeless in Knoxville last year.
